The Amla Shikakai Shampoo is filled with the goodness of Amla, Reetha, Shikakai, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, and Maha Bhringraj.

It is SLS-free. SLS — sodium lauryl sulphate — is the harsh one, and we don't use it. We use a milder ammonium lauryl ether sulphate instead, because a herbal wash still has to lift oil and buildup off a greasy scalp. So: SLS-free, yes. Sulphate-free, no — and we'd rather tell you that than let you find it on the label. What it is free of is parabens, mineral oil and silicones, all three printed on the pack.

We make this shampoo from whole herbs, not from standardised extracts stripped and colour-matched to look the same forever. Amla picked after the monsoon isn't the same shade as amla picked in spring — so the colour may run lighter or darker, and the consistency a little thinner or thicker, from one batch to the next.

What doesn't change is what goes in. The same herbs, in the same amounts, batch after batch.

It lathers gently rather than foaming hard. That's the formulation, not the bottle — a herbal wash without a heavy foaming agent behaves this way. A coin-sized amount worked into the scalp is enough; you don't need the thick foam to get a clean scalp.

It's gentle enough for regular use on treated hair, and the almond, olive and Maha Bhringraj oils help with the dryness colouring leaves behind. Do be aware that this is a sulphate-based cleanser, and any sulphate cleanser will fade colour faster than a sulphate-free one. If you've just had colour done, space your washes out and always follow with a conditioner.
