Establishing the Mian Vali Clinic

At the tender age of 20 in 1889, Dhari Shah established his pharmacy in Mianvali, which is now in Pakistan. It quickly gained recognition as the largest practice and hospital within a 100km radius. His selfless service to the community earned him the affectionate title "Shah" from the locals. He provided medical care and distributed free medicines to the poor, a testament to his commitment to the well-being of his fellow citizens. Mianvali became famous for three things: Andhari (storms), Kachari (courts), and Dhari (Dharishah clinic), underscoring the central role of Dhari Shah's establishment in the town.

Legacy Continuation

Before his passing in 1943, Dhari Shah had the foresight to impart his formulations and knowledge to his successors. His legacy was thus secured, and after his demise, Shri Ram Dass Dhamija, Dhari Shah's son, took charge of the Mianvali clinic and pharmacy.

The Mass Exodus and Resettlement

The tumultuous events surrounding the partition of India in 1947 forced all of Dhari Shah's successors to leave Pakistan. They sought refuge in Ambala, Punjab, but were relegated to the status of "Refugees." All the wealth amassed in Mianvali was left behind. Starting anew in a foreign city was arduous, but Shri Ram Dass Dhamija was determined to re-establish his father's legacy. He initiated various trades alongside his sons and brothers with grit and determination.

The Expansion of the Legacy

In 1948, Dharishah Pharmacy opened its first shop in Pansari Bazar in Ambala, dealing in raw jadibooti (herbs and medicinal plants). This shop, situated in the heart of Ambala Cantonment, remains open to this day. In 1954, Dharishah Di Hatti was established. It is a name synonymous with Ambala, known by anyone familiar with the city. Small-scale production of proprietary Ayurvedic products began in 1964, utilising the formulations passed down through the generations by Hakim Dhari Shah. The family's commitment to preserving the traditional healing methods through these formulations was unwavering.
